Clearing shots (20 mins)

Set up: 2 teams of 6-8 players. Whites start as defenders, Reds are attackers.

Red player will dribble past central pole and shoot, while defender sprints to cover goal and clear red's shot.

Play for 2 minutes then switch.

Clearing passes into FWD's (30 mins)

Set up: 2 teams of 6-8 players split into 2 lines.

White starts by playing ball into target player. Red's job is to work around target player to clear ball out of danger (past red line).

If white wins ball they can play back to server and go 2v1 to small goal or turn and take on defender 1v1

Progression 1:

Add GK and go 3v2 to goal where 1 defender must press 1st pass

Progression 2:

Play with 4 defenders and 3 forward attackers. The ball will start from midfield server and go into any of 3 forwards. Defenders try to press and win ball (pressure/cover). If attackers win it they can play back into midfield and then attack 5v4. If defenders win the ball from attackers the outside backs can play a pass into a small goal or the central defenders can play into the coach

9 Ball (20 mins)

Set up: 2 teams of 6-8 players. White team attacks first with all players inside 18 yd box. Red's line up in 2 lines beside each post.

When white team retrieves a ball from the line reds can come out and defend. The objective for defending team is to block as many shots as possible and clear ball out.
