Organization:
2 Grids.8 cones needed per grid. 2 counter goals per grid. If no goals are available replace with cones.
Instruction:
4 lines for starting points. Make sure the starting points are at least 5+ yards away to give attackers an advantage. Attacking line is line FURTHEST from central goals. Attackers attempt to run into the end zone at either end of the grid.
1. They can run straight ahead into the far end-zone (A)
2. Or turn and run over the end line the started on (B).
If players choose this option they must first run completely outside of the starting endzone before they turn back as shown in example (2).
You can see in example 1 the attackers starts forward and pretends to turn back before changing direction again and finishing at the far end.
Defenders try to tag attackers on the shoulder before they can get to either endline.
Round 1 (3 min + 3 min) : One point for each gate.
Round 2 (3 min + 3 min): Two points for side gates (this should encourage players to try to cut back to find side gates.)
Keep track of scores. Award the winning groups at the end of time.
Coaching Points:
Drive forward at speed. You want defenders to speed up as well.
If defender is not as fast and cannot catch up keep going straight!
If defender catches up use the defender's momentum against them and cut back. (You must get defenders running hard first to pull this off so start quickly).
Don't let defenders get too close to you...make early and quick decisions.

Organization:
2 Grids. 10 cones needed per grid. 2 counter goals per grid. If no goals are available replace with cones. 1 ball per player. Players can share if not enough soccer balls are available.
Instruction:
4 lines for starting points.
1) Players start at gates at either end. Players dribble the ball to the central cone in front of them and perform their U turn (before they reach the cone) Players turn 180 degrees and return to their starting spots.
2) Players dribble to the middle cone again. This time players perform their stop start and continue dribbling forward to the opposite side
Coaching Points:
Small controlled touches on approach to cone. (This does not mean you have to go slow)
Start your move early so you do not get to close to the cone.
Accelerate out of you U-turn and Stop Start to get away from opponents

Instruction:
Same set up as the tag game but now players have a ball at their feet and should have some moves they can use to be successful.
4 lines for starting points. Attacking line starts with a ball. Defending line starts without a ball. Attackers look to dribble their ball into an endzone or shoot on the pugs. Players can decide 3 ways to score. 1 point for each endzone and 2 points for either pug.
***Defenders dribble through gate for 2 points if they steal the ball
Bonus points for players that use learned moves to beat defenders and score points.

*In between rounds you can demo what we are looking for if round one did not show proper application.
Round 2 (3 min + 3 min) Both groups switch fields so that pugs are on opposite sides for round 3 and 4.
Keep track of scores. Award the winning groups at the end of time.

The decision on what moves to use and when should be driven by position of defender and availability of space.
