Playing out from the back possession:-

Blacks are set out in a traditional back 4. They must operate on the lines that they are working on and cannot move onto the top line. The coach must look at different ways in which midfielders can get on the ball.
The midfield 3 are set up as if the formation is a 4-3-3.

Progression:-

  • In possession a player representing a CDM could drop between the two black centre backs to make a 3, which will allow the full backs to go even higher. Two players representing 8's may go high to draw pressure away from the defenders.
  • Black centre backs can step into the game to create overloads in midfield.

Regression:-

  • Players on outside cannot be tackled but can be pressed

SSG:-

6v4+2

Players on the black team will look to play through pressure and score in the small goals.

Centre midfielders should look to start high to relieve pressure on the ball.
The CDM should look to start higher also to be able to assess spaces to get onto the ball.

Full backs (Whites) should look to start high to offer the option of a clipped ball.
Centre backs should look to split to create a diamond with the GK and the 4.

Goalkeeper will remain fixed. Look to swap the teams around after 4 minutes.
