Dribble into Shot

There will be 2 different stations set up, both stations will have one set up for the right foot and one set up for the left foot.

Each station has the same objective, the player will dribble through the cones. Once they are through the cones they will approach the mannequin and take a touch outwards to then shoot with the inside of their foot on the goal.

The Learning station will have poles to show the width of a regular size net but the target they will be aiming for us a mini net.

The Apply station will have a regular size goal with a cone 3 steps off the post to create a target inside the goal for players to aim at.

Coaching Points:

Dribbling

- For the most part, you should be in a balanced stance with your knees bend

- As the ball shifts from side to side, your body should be following (you shouldn't have to stretch for it)

- We usually work in opposites, if you want to travel forward diagonally, we need to position ourself slightly behind the ball.

- When we are proficient at dribble, can we use the outside of our foot to push the ball across the cones then the inside of the foot with the same foot. Then the outside of the foot of the opposite foot to bring it across the cones again.

Shooting with the Inside of the Foot:

-  When using the inside of our foot to shoot, our lead touch should be flatter on an angle as opposed to straight in front of us

- To shoot accurately we have to ensure our planted foot is beside the ball, but most importantly we have to ensure our planted foot is pointing to our target

- Make sure when we strike the ball our ankle is remaining locked. With the inside of our foot, we should keep a 90 degree angle with our foot. And we should be making a line with the middle of the inside of our foot towards the target

- Once you strike the ball, you should follow through in the direction you want the ball to travel

- To keep the ball low, you need to ensure your body is staying over the ball
