Defending a wide free kick
1. If there is 2 players over the ball = 2 in the wall, defending any overlap or combination play.
2. Man in the hole is the lead communicator. All other players hold his line, and do not drop until his shout. Usually a step for kicker makes contact
3. Man for man acorss the box, make sure your man does not not

Defending a direct shooting free kick
1. Get wall set and organized immediately, usually 4 decent size players, but still leaving one or two strong defensive players to man mark
2. Goalkeeper's preference for number in wall, and whether any gap between two end players.

Defending Corners (Zonal)
Defending corner set up
1. Two weakest defenders on back post and corner of 18 yard box on same side as kick is being taken.
2. One man in the hole at the front post. In between 6 yard and goal line, slightly ahead of front post.
3. Man in hole and man on corner of 18 go out to defend any short corner.
4. man on corner of 18 runs to top of the box if no short corner is taken.
5. 4 best headers of the ball along the six yard box, two best in the middle, outside players level with front and back post. Next two best defenders level with penalty spot in the next line up.
6. Striker can stay high or come back to help depending on stage of game.
NOTES;
If opposition put a player on GK, man on back post would mark him unless GK prefers not to.
If opposition crowd the six yard box, drop the two lines deeper
make adjustments as needed
