Arrival Games (10 mins)

Set Up:

- 3v3 or 4v4's


Instructions:

  • Normal match
  • One Condition: Can't play 2 straight negative passes

Coaching Points: 

  • Body shape to receive & First touch
  • Breaking Lines to play forward
  • Movement into space between lines

Activity 1: Across the Pond (20 mins)

Pattern (Warm-Up)

Set Up:

- 3 zones, 3 teams of 3 or 4


Instructions:

  • Players will possess in their zone and attempt to make 5 passes before they can play to the far side for a point
  • Defenders will send in 2 defenders to try & win the ball. If they win the ball and play across they receive 1 point
  • If defenders knock the ball out, they change with the team that lost possession but do not receive a point
  • In the first round, team in the middle cannot defend the ball through, remove restriction for second and third rounds (4 minute rounds)

Coaching Points: 

  • Movement to create space
  • Good weighted pass to the proper foot
  • Prepare body to receive and play your next pass
  • Check shoulder to scan field 
  • Identify the time to play through or around

Activity 2 (20 mins)

Pattern (Warm-Up)

Set Up:

- 2 fields, same teams as before (4v4+4)


Instructions:

  • Players will look to play into an endzone, once they reach the endzone they attack in the opposite direction and attempt to score in the mini-goal
  • Neutral players have 2 touch to play and can play up & down in their areas

Coaching Points: 

  • Movement to create space
  • Good weighted pass to the proper foot
  • Prepare body to receive and play your next pass
  • Check shoulder to scan field 
  • Identify the time to play through or around

Use full field and large goals. 7 minute games, Substitute players on for equal playing time.
