Setup:
12 players - 6 per team, including 2 goal keepers
60 x 25 playing area with cones marking out 3 zones - end zones at 15 X 25 and middle at 30 x 25.
Each attacking third has 1 attacker and 2 defenders. Middle third has 2 v 2.
Instruction:
A player in possession can pass the ball or dribble the ball into the next zone, so she can support in that forward zone creating an overload. To bring an additional player into the zone, the ball can be played backward (negative pass) to engage that player for a greater overload.
If defending team wins possession, the opposing team can transition quickly into their original zones.
Regular game is played with kick-ins but no corners.
Progression:
Automatic 1 player overload in each zone is allowed
Coaching Points:
Good decision making on when to pass forward or to keep possession in own zone.
Can the player make a pass into an area so that their team mate is running onto the ball, instead of waiting for the ball.?
Are the players using all the space on the field when attacking?
If the player being passed to is facing her own goal, are they turning into defenders or passing back? Is their communication from passer.
If the CF has the ball in the final third with no support, is she trying to bring in support with a back pass to create an overload or trying to play 2v2?
