3 Team River Game

Set-up:

2 Zones with a 5 yard river in the middle.  3 teams of 4/5 players.

Instructions:

1) Team in possession(red) tries to connect 5 passes vs 2 of the central zone players (yellow) before attempting to deliver the ball to the other side through the river to earn a point.  Central zone players can attempt to win the ball back in the river if can.

2) If the ball gets across, the team in the new zone (white) tries to do the same as the defending team (yellow) must now send 2 players in to defend in the new zone.

3). If the defending team wins the ball and can get it across to the opposite zone, then they stay in the zone that they won the ball in and the team which they won the ball from now becomes the defending team in the river.

Coaching Points:

a) Back foot reception when available.

b) Open body shape

c) Split eliminates the most defenders if can

d) one touch or two touch is most effective
