Technical- Passing/Dribbling

Technical - Passing, Receiving and Dribbling

Separate into 2 groups
Player 1 passes to player 2 who then dribbles around the far cone and through the gates to the back of the line
Player 1 follows there pass

Progression

Player 1 passes to 2 then to 3 who dribbles back through the cones
Follow pass

Coaching Points:

Accuracy and weight of pass
Good first touch in the direction the ball need to go (open body, back foot)
Close control while dribbling

Pass - Move + layoff

Players in a Circle.

One of the pair will Receive first. Balls will get passed into this player. He will control them and lay them off for his partner to play out to a player without a ball - one touch control and lay off if possible!!

Key Points:

-Move away from the pass to create room in front to receive

-Communication from partner - telling where he wants the ball

-Partner tries to get round in front of the receiver for a nice easy lay off

Swap receivers then swap pairs after 10 receives each.

Moving, Receiving & Passing Circle

• Same set-up as before.

• 1 Progression: Receive and pass; then overlap around the player before finding another ball

• Switch middle group of players every minute; 2 times through for each group/player.

• Coaching Points: 1) make an accurate & proper weighted pass into your target, 2) change speed quickly to get around.

Number Sequence passing

Set Up

Set up 25X25 grid. Set up players side by side on a line. Give players a number 1-10. Players will need to remember their number.
After all players are given a number, players jog/run around the grid until coach starts the passing sequence by passing the 1st ball to player number 1. Player 1 will find Player 2 and so on, until it gets to the last player. The last player will start the sequence again by passing to player 1. Once players are comfortable with the 1st sequence, add a 2nd ball, and start a 2nd sequence. The goal is to have 3 balls being passed simultaneously.

Coaching Points

Communication(names, numbers, to the left/right of you, to the front/behind you). Head swiveling, Passing and Moving.

Progression

Adding more balls will add more difficulty. Coach can call "REVERSE" and players have to communicate quickly to sort out the new reversed sequence. Coach can "REVERSE" the sequence multiple times.
