Game Training
Main Moment - Ball Possession Opponent
Key Principle - Can we prevent the opponent from playing centrally and beyond us
What - Pressing from the front - Opponent in their defensive third
Who - our Front 3, #10 and #6 #8
When - when the opposition has possession in the defensive third and is trying to play the ball into their central players
Where - in the opponent defensive third
Why - because the opponent has outnumbered us in the central area and are playing between us when we try to press the wing-backs
Session objective/Team Task - Can we deny the opponent the opportunity to pass to their central players
Player Tasks
#9 and #10 go into a position where the centre back has to now play sideways or to the wing-back
#7 and #11 can we shift to the active defensive area

Can you show the opposition away from the goal?
Can you deny the opponent the opportunity to get his head up
If the ball goes Wide or beyond Can you work hard to prevent the pass inwards and send the ball carrier back
