Head Coach - Coaching the RED team
Red team objectives.
- Use width and depth to exploit the spaces
- Combination passing
- Good final pass
- Finishing
- Be creative in possession.
- Play through, over and around
- When possible take advantage of overload situations, 2v1s / 3vs2.
Assistant coach - Managing BLUE team
Blue team objectives.
- Protect the middle third.
- Force play wide.
- Stop crosses
- Defend the box and minimise box entries.
Explanation.
The ball starts from the coach or assistant coach every time it goes dead or a goal is scored, they will look to give to both sides randomly to keep some realism but not lose to much from the session principles.
Generally free play but also looking for the red team to keep looking to break in to the final third in as many different ways as possible, crossing, dribbling, combination play, interchanging of positions.
Also looking at the blue team to counter act the red team and defend the final third by staying compact and narrow, protect the middle, stop crosses and minimise box entries, they must put there bodies on the line.
Use the GK's as outfield players, they need to look to support play, communicate with teammates and command there area,
Challenges, Conditions & Targets.
Blue team could look to set problems by playing a low blocks or a high press.
Red team can they look to interchange positions to confuse and move defenders around to open up gaps to play through in the middle or out wide for an overlap run etc.
Could the red midfielders get in to the final third and get shots of or a direct assist.
Could the strikers score with first time shots not getting caught on the ball.
Could the BLUE GK have a brave high starting position enabling the defenders to squeeze the reds up the pitch, creating another problem to solve.
Interventions.

Terminal
Coaching process.
Walk through.
Q & A , either questions from the coaches or from the players.
Coaching positions.
Head coach could start on position A and assistant coach could start on position B. Although through the practice they will rotate around the pitch to positions C & D.The head coach may also enter the field of play to get another view of the game or to offer concurrent feedback on both positive and negative aspects of the session.
Or walk throughs to explain any situations that need addressing.
What IF's.
- If a blue CM pressed high with the blue ST, can the red CM drop in flatter and split the CB's to receive the ball.
-If a blue winger presses the red CB can the red WINGER create an angle to receive the ball wide. Or can the red WINGER move inside and rotate with the ST that moves outside. This can create confusion for the blue CB whether to go wide or stay central, this may open a gap for a lofted pass.
- If blue are defending narrow, can we create overloads out wide and exploit them.

If the Blue team win possession, they can counter attack and if they score, they will start with possession from there server/goalkeeper.
Challenges, conditions and targets.
- Red team are challenged to receive the ball in the central shaded area as this is a key area for combination play in the final third.
- Blue team are given a time limit when they turn over the ball and counter attack, if they retain possession there is no time limit.

- Score from a cross = 2 goals.
