Session Organisation
Area 60x40yds, divided into 6 zones, with end zones 10x40yds, divided into 2 equal size areas & 2 central zones, each 20x40yds wide, as illustrated.
16 players, 1 ball.
3v3 in each central zone, 2 Target players for each team in each of 2 end zones.
Practice starts with the Blues in possession.
Objective of game to pass through each of 2 central zones to play into T.
Once achieved, T player transfers ball to second T in adjoining end zone.
Second T passes into opponent’s central third player to change direction of play.
T players may change positions, but must remain in balance, as do central players, in terms of numbers.
Detail
Challenge 1: Try to play forward early, or (if unable), pass to a player who is in a position to do so.
Teams need to retain their positional balance & structure.
Exchanges of position in central zones, whilst maintaining balance is encouraged.
Choice, speed & accuracy of passes in congested central zones.
Quality of passes into T’s, who will be on the move in end zones.
Simple progressions for this practice are:
D’s may press in end zone
Players may pass into end zones & replace receiving player who exits end zone for mid zone.

Session Organisation.
Small Sided Game. Balls; Bibs; Cones.
Six, 15 x 15 zonal areas = 45 x 30 play area. 6 v 6 play, 1 v 1 in selected zones.
2 target players, one in each target free zone area and 2 floaters in wide free zone areas,
one each side.
Progression; Allow players to switch side to side creating 2v2 then rotational grid movement

S-S-Game. 1v1 must stay in zoned areas, retain the ball by using supporting players. To score the team in possession must recieve from a target zone player and play through to the opposite target player.
Free play to start with and then had conditions 1/2/3 touch etc.
Sideway rotation of team player in possession only.
Forward and backwards rotation of team player in possession only. Understanding game awareness and game appreciation

Session Organisation
Half Pitch; 9v9. 60 Yds x 55 Yds. With a 5yd central free zone and 2 x 8yd side zones for floating players only.
Detail
3v3+2 floating players on 2 touch condition in each attacking half. 1 Attacking striker can drop into central zone area unapossed to receive and select options. shoot, play into wide play, combination 1-2 etc. progression, allow side floating players to engage in 1v1 situations etc.

Playing through the thirds (20 mins)
CONDITIONS:
All players to play in their respective zones. 4 V 4 in the central area. 2 teams of 4 on either side of the play area, for team in possession to receieve from and play through to target receivers. Can also play off 2 wide players who are on 2 touch. Change over after 4 mins.
YELLOWS are defending 1st, AIM is to stop the ball being transferred from one end zone to the other, on transition turn over opposite team defend.
COACHING POINTS
Keep tight distances between each other
Early pressure and aim to force play one way.
Travel in relation to the ball, eg; When ball is switched horizontally, furthest man from the ball has to work hard to narrow off to stop ball being played between the lines. Look to intercept and counter.
Clear communication
Coaching Points:
Technical - 1st defender 1 v 1 defending skills - Body shape, angle of approach - footwork - delay
2nd defender support and screening - 3rd + 4th defender support and balance.
