U12 Recreation Players
To improve players passing and receiving skills, with emphaise on decision making and passing and moving during freedom of play.
Long TermTask-Orientated goals for the players:
1. Recieving touch - take first touch away from pressure and into space preferably in the direction you would like to play next
2. Pass with inside of foot over varying distances
3. Movement off the ball to create space, supporting angles and passing option
4. Decision making
Practice Goal for the coach:
1. Reduce the number of interventions and time spent on interventions.
2. Allow players to correct their own mistakes through guided discovery; only stepping in to the practice during coachable moments.
3. Provide positive constructive feedback
Duration of pre-activity session: 10 minutes
Using whiteboard. Players to brain storm: How do we pass and recieve ball? (discuss technique) Advantages of successful passes? This will be an open discussion for all players to have an input, ask questions and self reflect.
Duration of Field Session: 1 hour 20 minutes
Number of players: 14
Equipment: balls, pinnies, cones, 4 goals, flat disc markers, first aid kit
Area size: 60 x 40 yards
Facility: Turf field
Role of Assistant Coach: Ball feeder, time keeper, assisting with coaching points and interactions.

Task-orientated Goal
- Passing with inside of foot and receiving open body position.
Practice Organisation:
- As shown, 3 teams operate amongst each other (ball per team)
-Area: 20 x 30 yards (increase size if needed)
Detail:
- Teams pass and move in their own colours
-Looking for players to be always moving and providing options, as well as being visually aware.
Progressions
- Teams must look to pass THROUGH 2 opposition players, breaking the line
- Teams must try and receive BETWEEEN 2 oppositin players

Practice Organisation:

Details:
- Game is transitional, one team defends against two teams
- Team who lose possession become defenders
Progressions
- One team defends for a time period and upon winning the ball try to score in any of the four goals, all teams have a go at defending. Team are responsibile for counting there teams score
-Allow time out after first round to allow each team to group and discuss how they can improve performance in second round.

-Begin with 5 v 5 plus GKs with 2 neutral (N) players creating a numbers up scenario. N's play for the team in possession

Progression:
-Remove N's after 10 minutes
- 6 v 6 game with GKs
