Can do this with any number of players, 5 has been used to show as an example.

Set up a pitch size area of around 20x20 and have goals with GK's at opposite ends.

Have equal number of players in each corner of the pitch and another group of equal numbers in the middle of the pitch on the opposite side.

Coach plays the ball into player on opposite side of the pitch, player makes decision to pass the ball to the player either left or right corner of the pitch. These 2 players team up to play 2 v 1 against the opposite player. If defensive player wins the ball, they can try to score or play a pass back to the coach. Rotate players so all attack and defend.

Progression: send in more players for 3v2 / 4v3 etc. Set number of passes before a goal can be scored.

Encourage - decision making, communication, teamwork, attacking, defensive, overload.

Coaching points - decision and communication to chosen teammate? How can teammates use space and combine via 1-2's? Can defensive player shield and not dive in, make the attackers make a mistake.
