Warm Up (5 mins)

Organization:

1. 40x30 area set up as shown

2. One ball per group with additional outside of grid

Instructions:

Introduction to Wall Pass

1. Players will work in pairs with one ball.

2. Player 1 will dribble the ball towards a cone while Player 2 is in a supporting position.

3. Unpon approching the cone, Player 1 will pass the ball to Player 2

4. Player 2 will one touch pass the ball back into the path of Player 1 creating a wall pass

5. The pair will continue this pattern, using the cones as mock defenders for two minutes.

6. At the end of the allotted time the players will switch roles and again work together for the allotted amount of time.

7. At the end of the allotted time, players will find a new partner to work with.

8. Coach will continue working with players on the Wall pass, allowing players to get different rotations in with new partners.

Coaching Points:

1. Best played with outside of the foot for disguise

2. Angle and distance of supporting player

3. Reduce distance for quicker combination

Main Theme 1 (15 mins)

Organization:

1. 40x30 area set up as shown

2. Team split into two groups

3. Multiple balls per group

Instructions:

1. Players A and B are working as individuals, they will dribble forward as mock defenders to help Players C and D with timing. Players A, B, C should start with a ball at their feet.

2. Player A and Player C begin the activity by making eye contact and dribbling towards each other. Player A dribbles their ball forward towards Player C, Player C dribbles their ball towards Player A.  

3. When Player C is in the attacking radius of Player A they should pass the ball to Player D who has been running square with Player C.

4. Player B begins dribbling towards Player D once the pass has been made from Player C.

5. When Player D is in the attacking radius of Player B they should pass the ball to Player C who has been running square with Player D.

6. Upon reaching the end, players will turn and being again. Players will work for allotted amount of time then switch roles. 

Coaching Points:

1. Angle of approach

2. Head up to observe target

3. Angle locked

4. Body weight over ball

5. Weight and accuracy of pass 

Progressions:

P - Take away ball from mock defenders and allow them to try to win ball.

R - Take away ball from mock defenders and have them just walk at working team.

Main Theme 2 (15 mins)

Organization:

1. 40x30 area set up as shown

2. Team split into two groups, attacking and defending

3. Multiple balls per group

Instructions:

1. Defender will play ball into attacking team.

2. Attacking player will receive the ball and dribble forward.

3. When defender commits to ball, players will attempt a wall pass to beat defender to score a goal.

4. If defender does not commit to ball and covers supporting player, receiving player can go straight to goal in a attempt to score. 

Coaching Points:

1. 1st Attacker to commit defender to the ball

2. 2nd attacker to offer support for combination either in front, to the side or behind

3. Angle and distance of 2nd attacker

4. Decision making of each player

5. Combination selection

6. Timing of combination

7. 1st attacker uses 2nd attacker to combine or as a decoy

Progressions:

1. P - Allow defender to advance as soon as ball is played.

2. R - Take away goals and have players just play over the end line.

Conditioned Game (15 mins)

Organization:

1. Field set up as shown

2. Team 1: sets up in a 2-1-2

3. Team 2: Sets up in a 2-2-1

4. Multiple Balls

Instructions:

1. Teams must stay in formation. Goal keepers will switch every 2 minutes.

2. Each team will play for 6 mins with a condition then switch conditions and formations.

Coaching Points:

Passing - Push (Inside)

1. Angle of approach – center

2. Supporting foot is next to the ball pointed at target

3. Head up observe your target

4. Contact ball - middle

5. Contact foot - inside

6. Ankle locked with toe pointed up

7. Follow through towards target with striking foot remaining open throughout

8. Body weight over the ball

9. Weight and accuracy of pass

Passing - Driven

1. Angle of approach – off center

2. Head up to observe target

3. Head down at the point of contact

4. Non kicking foot placed to side, slightly behind the ball

5. Ankle locked, toe down

6. Contact ball – middle above the mid line

7. Contact foot – laces (Instep)

8. Body weight forward chest and knee over the ball at contact

9. Follow through

10. Land on the striking foot

Progressions:

1. Open Play - no restrictions
