Objective: Improve defending.
Organization: 8x24 yard grids x 4 channels.
Instructions: Players play 4v4 but may only defend in their channel.
Variations: Eliminate the channels and play 2v2 - Eliminate channels and play 4v4
Coaching Points: (1) Compaction, (2) Pressure on the ball, (3) Forcing correct direction, (4) Cover and balance,(5) communication.

Objective: Improve defending.

Instructions: Players play 4v4 - Team in possession tries to play target player on opposite side. Breaking the lines = 1 pt
Defensive shape of the 4 is important - stay compact, but pressure the ball quickly. If defensive team wins the ball and plays to their target they get 2 points.
Coaching Points: (1) Compaction, (2) Pressure on the ball, (3) Forcing correct direction, (4) Cover and balance,(5) communication.
Finish with 7v7 if time allows.

Rondo 8v2 (10 mins)
WARM-UP
Objective: mental and physical activation game for the training session.
Set-up: 10x10 grid. 8 players.
Instructions: players play 1-2 touch. If the defenders win the ball they drop the vests and transition quickly into the outside to possess.
Timing: Play 4 minutes, stretch on their own 2 minutes, play 4 minutes then go into dynamic stretch.
Coaching Points: (1) quality of passes, (2) receiving the ball open across our body, (3) proper passing and receiving, movement to fill in spaces, fast transitions from defending to attacking and from attacking to defending.
