Screen 1 (15 mins)

Set up:

  • 6 players each line
  • Cone at starting point
  • 1st hurdle 10 yards from starting cone
  • Hurdles 1 yard apart

Description:

  • Light jog at 50% to end of hurdles and back 3 times
  • Light Jog to hurdles, bounce over hurdles; hold and pause for a count of 3 seconds and then proceed to the next hurdle repeat with the same foot then jog out
  • Repeat previous action with other foot
  • Repeat 2x each leg
  • Dynamic lunges from cone to end hurdle and jog back 2x
  • Front toe touch same side from starting point to last hurdle 2x
  • Quick shuttle runs at 75% to each hurdle and back to starting cone
  • Grass cutters 2x each leg
  • Hamstring scoops 2x
  • Lunge opening up groin to side 2x
  • Side to side movement in a zigzag pattern through hurdles 2x
  • Lunge movement twisting to opposite side of knee up 2x
  • Explosive runs 3x at 75%
  • Explosive runs 3x at 90%

Screen 2 (20 mins)

Description:

  • 6x3 minutes activity time (45 second rest/change over interval)
  • 2 goals 36 yards apart and field 44 yards wide
  • Blue GK will start with the ball. He plays a long pass to one of the two orange players (simulate loss of possession)
  • The two orange players will pass to the orange player on the top of the penalty area, he will bounce the ball or turn. White will play3v2 against the two blue defenders.
  • If a goal is scored or ball goes out of bounds, the coach will play the ball into the two blue players with a blue player joining from the side. Two orange players will stay and the attack will go 3v2 the other direction

Duration 15 minutes

Coaching Points: 

  • Can player recognize quickly where the space is and is there an opportunity to finish or set up players to finish in the quick attack.
  • One of the desired movements A1 to A2 to A3, is start of attacking pattern
  • C1 to C2 is the counter attacking pattern when the GK saves the ball and finds the open attacker on the outlet
  • Players must recognize space to play quickly off of target player and attack the goal as they are within shooting distance of goal.
  • Counter pressing team (Blue) must read the pass and pressure the player receiving the ball on the run so that they can alter their shot, increase their angle of approach to make it easier for the keeper, or force a pass
  • Win possession on a poor pass and counter to go the other way
  • Give the GK the opportunity to see the shot to make the save and restart the attack the other way

  • Balls around the field for quick restarts 

Description:

  • Off the opening kickoff players should look to attack immediately and put opposition under pressure while also being aware of counter pressure.
  • Working on attacking principles of the session and counter attacking opportunities
  • Addressing situations that arise
  • Evaluating player reactions in an 11 v 11 game situation
Coaching Points:
  • Recognizing transitional moments in match   
  • Finding opportunities to win the ball and counter attack in transition in numbers up situations

Duration: 

  • 18 Mins 2 x 8 minute intervals for play and coaching over the play 
  • 2 minute each break
