Push Pass

Objectives

- Learn how to perform a Push Pass

Material Needed

- Hockey Stick ( 1p/child)

- Hockey Balls

- Cones

Set Up


- In pairs , trying to pass the ball to each other, using the correct technique.


- Teams will get a point if, able to pass the ball straight to teammate



Coaching Points


- Correct technique of a push pass,


- Hands Position


- How can we control the ball


- Position of the stick while ball is moving


- When should we use a push pass,

Gates

Set Up


- In the same pairs every student with a hockey stick and a ball p/pair


- Students will have to go through as many gates as possible, can't always be in the same one.


- Every gate will be a point, if Teacher/Coach sees someone doing a great Push Pass, that team will have a extra point.


Progressions:


1- Different colour gates, after using a green gate, the pair needs to make sure the next gate is a different colour.


2- Adding a defender.

- Aware of when to go next and looking out for the defender,


- Communication with the teammate.


- Control of the pass


- 3 important skills, passing, dribling and awareness
