Organization:
-From Penalty Area create a 15x10 grid and a 15x15 grid (adjust as needed)
-10-12 players
-See diagram for set-up
-Defending team set-up halfway along the channel.
-Attacking team set-up at the end of the channel.
-The coach feeds a ball into the first attacker and the first defender moves into the channel to defend the goal.
-The attacker is looking to beat the defender into the second grid to get a shot on goal.
-The defender is trying to protect the area as a first priority. However, if the attacker gets into the 2nd grid, the defender can still make a recovery run and try to prevent a shot on goal.
-Switch groups frequently
Progression:
-start with the attacker up against defender - coach plays into the support players who pass to attacker. Does defender go tight or protect the space in behind? (Start with no offside)

-The defenders are trying to prevent the attackers from scoring; keeping shape, communicating, pressing together to reduce the space available and recovering quickly if they are beaten.
-Attackers can play back to their support players to keep possession
-Introduce offside
-Rotate defenders and swap roles frequently

-like in 1v1 drill - start with attackers up against the attackers

Agility Warm-up (10 mins)
Organization:
-Within a 10x10 grid, set-up a simple area (approx 5 yards).
-10-12 players split into 2 groups
-Place two cones/markers to form a gate in one corner.
-One defender in the area. Remaining players outside area, on corner opposite the gate.
-One attacker at a time tries to get past the defender and through the gate to score a point.
-If the defender can tag the attacker then they gain a point for themselves.
Skill Development:
Movement, acceleration, change of direction
Starting to think about defensive body shape, speed of approach, etc...
