SET UP: 2 GRIDS 20 X 30. Both grids operate at the same time. 9 players, 2 balls. Unopposed practice in the first phase, with the red GK starting the play by finding P & P2.
PRACTICE 1: Primary player P plays in to receiving player R. He takes the ball on the back foot and plays to supporting player S, who passes to territorial player T.
PRACTICE 2: Primary player P2 plays in to receiving player R2. He takes the ball on the front foot and plays to supporting player S2, who passes to territorial player T2.

PROGRESSION: A white defender is added to offer a challenge to both grids. D now delivers the ball to P & P2 to start the practice.
PROGRESSION: Pass and follow your ball. This allows players to rotate positions and interchange.

SET UP: 3 areas as shown. Blue play white in a 6 v 3 senario. Blue P has to pass into the mid area occupied by 4 blue attackers and 3 white defenders. Blues are encouraged to select front foot or back foot to receive the ball, keep possession and successfully work the ball to the territorial blue player in the end area. Rotate all players.

Variation on receiving the ball (20 mins)
SET UP: 4 GRIDS 10 X 10 3 grids working at the same time. 3 players per grid. 1 ball per grid.
GRID 1
The white player starts the play with a throw in, correctly delivered from the white lines. Focus on throw in technique. 2 blue players work on intelligent movement to receive. Unopposed practice. Focus on throwing to feet where possible. Receiving blue players check in and check out to create the space to receive. Blue players combine to pass to the white player who has moved to support the play.
PROGRESSION: 1 blue player becomes a white to create a 2 v 1 senario.
PROGRESSION: rotate all players.
GRID 2: A mini goal is introduced. The Gk works on a variety of ways to distribute the ball, with both hands and feet. The blue players work on receiving with chest, thigh, instep, inside/outside of the foot, cushion control, soft feet.
PROGRESSION: The blue players have 2 touches to get a shot off.
PROGRESSION: 1 blue player becomes a white to create a 1 v 1 senario.
GRID 3: The white player selects a variety of passes to test the touch and control of the blue players. Likewise the white player works on his passing technique, selecting the inside/outside of the foot, laces, volley, half volley, ground pass, lofted pass. The blue player will attempt to successfully pass into the mini goal in grid 4.
