Improving running technique
Organization:

  • individual work without ball.
Instructions:

  • Players will follow the coach on how to fix their running technique.
  • Players will be doing:

-marching technique with opposite hand and leg ( will be shown).

-skipping

-running crossing feet ( forward and backward)

-running forward and backward

Coach Points:

  • That the players have better concentration.
  • Players react faster and more effectively.

Part 1 (10 mins)

Organization:

  • Individual work
  • 2 goals at the end of the field
  • 2 orange cones marking the start of the exercise

Instructions

  • The coach will make a pass to the player running towards the goals. The player must:
  • 1- stop the ball and score
  • 2-hit the ball at once

Coach Points:

  • Players must be active the entire time.
  • Give positive feedback.
  • Players must run and make explosive movements.

Part 2 (10 mins)

Organization:

  • Individual work
  • 2 goals at the end of the field

  • Every player with a ball

Instructions

  • The players will dribble the ball toward the goals, when they encounter the poles they must make a move as if this were a defender and pick either side (right or left) and shoot.

Coach Points:

  • Players must be active the entire time.
  • Give positive feedback.
  • Players must try to shoot with both feet.

Part 3 (15 mins)

Organization:

  • 3 red cones next to each other
  • 1 orange cone 20 feet apart of the main exercise.
Instructions:
  • Players will be working on how to get faster feet.
  • 2 inside taps making sure to give power to the exercise with the correct feet/leg side.
  • When the coach blows the whistle they must sprint toward the pole.
  • Make sure players come back walking and breathing properly since it's an intensive exercise.
  • VARIANT: I'll be adding a ball in between.
Coach Points:
  • Make sure players are doing the exercise with the correct technique. If not try to fix it by showing how to do it properly.

Part 4 (10 mins)

Organization:

  • Individual work
  • 1 player at a time with 1 ball.
Instructions:
  • Coach will have a yoga ball with her.
  • The player will start running toward the goal to score, their objective is to score before the coach pushes them with the yoga ball. The player needs to protect the ball from the opponent by opening arms, going around them, among others. ( Let the kids get creative).
Coach Points:
  • Keep the players active and focus on the exercise.
  • Tell the players to keep their core tight when someone tries to "push them" while playing.
  • Keep an eye on how the player uses their body, explain how to open their arms to protect the ball from an opponent.
