Playing out from the back (30 mins)

-GK quickly instructs defenders to move left or right. . Defenders need to respond quickly.
-If opposition reacts quickly with high press, does not mean you have to go that way. Can play opposite side or to CM. Variation is key, to ensure you are not predicable.
-GK to also consider playing to wingers. Variation for wingers start high then qucikly move closer to keeper but still wide to lose man and provide option to receive ball
-When receiving the ball each player should have option of 3 passes. All players need to have scanned prior to receiving the ball to enable quick decisions and have correct open body position to:
-receive ball, play back and run in behind for through ball
-Receive ball on half turn then find team mate
-First/second time pass to team mate. Working in triangles.
-Concentrate on movement when out of possession to support teammates, running into space from behind opposition
Concentrate on:
-Creating space
-Not being too deep.
-Working the ball out quickly for fast transition to attack.
-Accuracy of pass for you rteammate to them to quickly receive and retain possession.

Attack against defense (30 mins)

Where possible prioritise penetrating pass with accuracy (to maintain possession).

Principles of play when prioritising penetrating pass:

Things to consider to receive the ball:

•Support (angle/distance).
•Movement (timing/speed), lose your marker, or your movement drags opposition player to make space for team mate, or for you to run in behind.
•Awareness, decision-making on receiving the ball.
•Receiving skills: decision, direction,distance, disguise.
•Passing: decision, delivery: Who,where, when, how, why? (know all your team mates, don't always play to same player)
•Support receiver - work hard to support team mate (should always have min 2 passing options, also prevents quick transition of opposition if ball lost.
•Movement and interchanges of positions to create pass options.

No player should remain static, but move with purpose into space and create space for team mates. Read the game to enable quick movement anticipating next two phases of play.
