Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): Specific Practice - Anaerobic (Start Time: 2023-01-29 10:30:00)

Specific Practice - Anaerobic (15 mins)

Organisation & Anaerobic Considerations:

• Area: 30 x 50 metres (inc. neutral zone)
• Time: 6 blocks of 2 minutes each
• Team roles are changed every 2 minutes
• 12 outfield players – 2 GKs
• 3 teams of 4 players each

• Coaching interventions: between sets (serves as recovery)
• Approx. 20 minutes in total
• Approx. energy contributions: anaerobic 88%, aerobic 12%

• Practice start with the coach who feeds a ball to the GK in the ball zone (4 + GK v 3)
• Blue team try to maintain possession against the 3 yellow players. 1 yellow player located in the neutral zone between the two zones to try and intercept potential passes.
• Blues must complete 5 passes and then switch the play to the red team in the other zone.
• If yellows win the ball (like in the diagram), before a switch of play, then they attack the red’s team goal as fast as possible.
• Yellows are free to move. Reds/Blues locked in their zones.

Physical / technical / tactical returns of the practice:

• Creating“pressing zones” near the ball area
• Defending lines and in behind the defensive line
• Pressing as a unit
• Show opponents inside/outside
• Change of attitude, that of attacking to defending, and vice versa.
