Screen 1 (15 mins)

Stamina Warm Up

Organisation:

- 2 groups of players

- 20m x 20m grid

- lines of cones 5m behind the white line

Instructions:

- Players run from one white line to the other

- Team red start, once they hit the white line, team blue begin

- Players rest is to walk to the red coned line, once back on the white line, they repeat

Progressions:

- The same activity with the ball

Screen 2 (25 mins)

Interval technical Drill

Organisation:

- Half the players on the perimeter of the box with balls, half inside 4x4 box without the ball.

Instructions:

- Players inside the box sprint out to one of the target players on the outside, perform a technical excercise, sprint back to the box and come out again to another player

- Players run through exercise for 1 minute, with a 15 second rest where they will switch with the outside player

- Exercises to perform:

1- Pass the ball with hand for catch

2- Pass the ball with thigh for catch

3- Pass the ball with laces volley for catch

4- Pass the ball with inside foot volley for catch

5- Pass the ball with head for catch

Ball on ground

6- Pass the ball after 3 touches

7- Pass the ball after 2 touches

8- Pass the ball in 1 touch.

Progressions:

- You can add ball mastery excercises in the inside box

Screen 3 (15 mins)

Posession game 6v2

Organisation:

- 40 x 40m grid split in half

- 2 teams of players on their half

- Coach on the side with a supply of balls

Instructions:

- Red start in posession and try to exchange 8 passes

- Blues send out 2 players on the red half to try and win the ball

- Once they've won the ball they play it to their team mates waiting on their half

- Now reds send 2 players out

- 8 consecutive passes is 1 point

- If the ball goes out of play of a defender, team in posession retain the ball

Progressions:

If the players are comfortable keeping posession of the ball, we can change the game to 6v4

Screen 4 (20 mins)

3v1 defending game

Organisation:

- Four 10 x10 grids

- 1 goal on the outside of each grid

- 3 players in posession in each grid

- 4 defenders in the middle

Instructions:

- When the game starts, the four reds (defenders) come out in the their squares and try to win the ball

- When they've won the ball they try to break out and score in the small goal

- They cannot by tackled by the blue team once tey've gone passed the white line

- Once they've scored, they come back to the middle

- We repeat it 4 times and reds defend in a different square each time

- We make it into a competition between the 4 reds

- Change the defenders after 4 games

Screen 5 (20 mins)

6 ball counter attacking game

Organisation:

- 40 x 30m pitch

- Two teams of 4 or 6

- Position a ball at each corner and half way position. Additional ball will be used to start play

Instructions:

- A normal 6v6 game

- When a team scores they go immediately back to the half way line and collect another ball to attack with. The nearest player to the goals from the defending team then has to get the ball out of the net and replace the new ball taken by the attacking team, by dribbling.

- The team that scored can begin attacking again whilst the original ball is being retreived

- If the attacking team shoots and misses rotation occurs by the defending team taking the ball from where the ball went out and attacking the opposite goal

- The ball has to be replaced by the player who kicked it out

- Same rule for corners and throw ins (play them with foot)

Key points:

- Counter Attacking players act quickly to exploit defence when reduced in numbers.

- Defending options when numbers down / delay play (Recover quickly behind the ball)

- Attacking team commit players forward and attempt to exploit the opposition with numbers down. Develop Aerobic Fitness (High Intensity)
