This shooting drill focuses on combination play and building up for a shot on goal. There are multiple combination ideas to make the shooting drill more difficult progressively

Setup
With two goals facing each other about 30 yards apart, place a goalkeeper in each goal. Set three flags at midfield on the left, center, and right sides of the field. On the left and right flags, place a cone 5 yards past the flags and set a player at each of these cones. Two players should start at the center flag, one player for each side of the drill. The remaining players should start along the endline with a ball each.
Instructions
Player 1 plays a ball into player 2. Player 2 checks to the ball and plays it back to player 1. Player 1 plays the ball into player 3. Player 3 lays off a ball to player 2. Player 2 has a timed run around the flag and shoots 1st time on goal. All players rotate forward one position (Player 1 becomes Player 2, Player 2 Becomes Player 3, Player 3 shags the ball).
Variations
Limit all passes and touches to ONE-TOUCH.
Coaching Points
Good solid passes, play in 1 touch if possible.
Good timed movement and runs (don't get there too early).
Player prepping the touch for the shooter should simply lay the ball off for a good 1 time shot.
Good shooting form leaning forward through the ball, and landing on the kicking foot.

Instructions:
- Line 1 starts off the sequence by dribbling at mannequin to get a shot off on the goalie (has 3 seconds to get shot off).
- After shooting in Line 1, immediately turns to play give/go drop-pass to player shooting in Line 2 (must shoot first time).
- Attacker from Line 1 continues to towards Line 3 to play a give/go through pass to player from Line 3 who gets around the mannequin to serve a cross. (Players from Line 1 and Line 2 get into the box to finish the cross).
- Rotate lines after completing the sequence.
Coaching Points:
- Head up to observe space and defender/goalkeeper.
- Determine appropriate surface of foot to shoot.
- Keep head still and eyes focused on the ball.
- Strike ball appropriately (center, low, top).
- Follow through towards target.

This practice is a high tempo shooting exercise designed to improve accuracy and power in
shooting and transition to defending. This is also a good work out for your goalkeepers.

Coaching Pointers:
Divide players into two equal groups. Groups are placed diagonally opposite, as in the diagram
above. Goalkeepers are placed in both goals. Two flag poles are positioned in the middle of the
area. Each player has a ball.
The practice starts when player “1” attacks the flag pole, performs a body feint and shoots at
goal. After shooting he must transition quickly from attack mode to defense and sprint across the
square to defend player “2”. Player “2’ is attacking the opposite goal. After he shoots he then
must defend. After defending players return to their own groups.
Focus On:
Accuracy over Power.
Quickness of transition from offense to defense.
Goalkeepers shot stopping.

WARM UP (10 mins)
Setup
Create two fairly small triangles about 15 yards from each other and approximately 5 yards outside the penalty box. You can adjust the distance from the goal based on the age and skill level of your players.
Place a player on each cone with the remaining players lined up outside of the triangle area.
You will need a large supply of balls per triangle.
Instructions
COMBINATION SERIES 1
Player 1 starts the first series by passing to player 2.
Player 2 passes to player 3.
Player 3 lays a ball into space near the top of the penalty box where player 1 can hit a first-time shot on goal.
Variations
Switch sides the players shoot so players are shooting left and right footed.
Be creative and make up other combinations as they are limitless.
Coaching Points
Focus on the following topics:
Good passing combination to feet while playing in 1 touch.
Good fluid movement keeping the body under control
Finishing with a shot on target.
Focus on body mechanics when striking the shot.
COMBINATION SERIES 2
Player 1 passes to player 2.
Player 2 then passes to player 3.
Player 3 returns the ball to player 1.
Player 1 lays off a ball into space for player 3 to hit a first-time shot on goal.
