FIFA 11+ - WARM UP (15 mins)

Organization:

-Cones placed 5 meters a part for a total of 20 meters with 4 cones placed on each side of the grid 3 meters from the interior cones

-Movements at 50 %,increase load/% as you progress

-Movements will be done 2x each, except jog (3x) and accelerations (2x)

Continuous Movement (Phase 1)

-Jog

-Jog/back-peddle alternating

-High knees

-Butt kicks

-Shuffling

-Karaoke

-Wrap Around

Dynamic movements (Phase 2)

-A Skip

-B Skip

-Open the gate

-Close the gate

-Double step leg kicks

Neural Prepatory Phase (PHase 3)

-45 degree angle cuts

-2 footed jump x 2 and accelerate @ 70%

-2 lunges and accelerate @ 70%

-Quick feet(horizontal shuffle between yellow cones) and accelerate 80%

-Quick Feet (High Knees between yellow cones) and accelerate 80%

Back Four Defending - Zonal (15 mins)

Organization:

1. Setup as shown (Half field)

2. 10 players.

3. 5 balls.

Instructions:

1. Back Four: Start 25-28yds out of the goal.

2. Coach says "GO" All 4 attacking players dribble out towards goal. Coach calls a number, that player continues dribbling towards goal, rest of players attack goal 5v3 with recovering defender.

3. Backline adjust to defending ball.

4. If coach calls a number from the beginning, it represents that player playing a long pass.Over the top

Coaching Points:

1. Dropping as a unit. Compact as opponent gets closer.

2. Once team passes Line of confrontation start stepping to ball.

3. 1st defender - closest player to ball press.

4. 2nd defender(s) - Shift into compact shape, cover space behind 1st defender (angle) - Prepared to become 1st defender.

5. 3rd defender - shift inside to deny penetrating pass on opposite side, on line with covering player.

6. Ability to shift roles as quickly as ball is moving is vital to success.

Attacking Transition - 2v2-4v4 (15 mins)

Organization:

1. Set up as shown (55x50)

2. 18 players.

3. Plenty of balls.

Instructions:

1. Fast paced 2v2 into 4v2, into 4v4.

Coaching points:

1. Ability to attack space as 1st attacker.

2. 2nd attacker looks to make run to drag 2nd defender or create passing lane.

3. Speed of transition and ability to play forward is key.

Phase of Play: Zonal Defending (8v8+2 Recovering Defenders) (15 mins)

Organization:

1. Setup as shown. Half a field (12yds wide zones)

2. 8v8+2 Recovering defenders and 2 Targets.

3. Team Shape: Blue: 3-2-3. Yellow: 4-2

Instructions:

1. When Blue team is in possession, game is played in 8v6+recovering defender

2. Recovering player can join after 4 passes are made or Red Wins possession of the ball.

3. Red can defend all over the field including wide areas. Blue & Red can attack the entire field including sending players into wide areas to overload.

4. Red scores by passing to TARGETS. Blue scores on large goal.

Coaching Points:

1. Immediate pressure, cover & balance. Ability to lead teammate next to you to perform his/her responsability.

2. If ball is being played in the Middle Third force play centrally. If ball is being played in the Back Third force play wide.

3. Ability to fully compact defensive area (closest to the ball), visual cue will be to leave furthest quadrant open.

4. STAY CONNECTED - 5-7 yds apart from closest teammate (vertical & horizontal) Denying penetration or switch of play is the ultimate goal.
