Shielding/Connecting the play:
Set up 10x10 boxes
2 players in the middle are playing against each other for 90 seconds, neutrals on the outside.
Any neutral player starts by playing a ball into the grid the players in the middle have to fight for it, and hold onto the ball for at least 4 touches before playing it back to any other neutral. Each time a player can successfully do this they get a point. Losing player has fitness. Switch the middle players after each round.
Coaching points:
-Body Position. Get low arms out Shield the defender with your body
-BE PHYSICAL
-Keep the ball close while shielding/Put your foot on the ball.
-Play the pass away from pressure

3v2 playing into a target player.
Blue team starts by the striker checking to the ball and receiving a pass from one of the midfielders. They then have to hold the ball up before connecting with a pass back to a midfielder. Once they successfully combine they can then go to goal.
If the White team wins possession of the ball they can then play into their striker and the game then turns into 3v3.
Coaching Points:
-Striker check to ball
-Hold up the play to give the midfielders time to advance up the field
-Shield the ball /Be Physical
-Spin out of the space you checked into after connecting

Technical Hold Up Play Warm Up:
Players get in lines of 3 or 4.
Player A starts the drill by playing a pass to player B. B holds onto the ball for a few seconds while shielding player C. After that amount of time the drill recycles with player B becomeing the new player A.
