player 9 : arc runs shut off route back to g.k while applying pressure to c.backs . make play predictable force them one side and screen passing lanes to stop forward passes.
player 7 & 11 : tuck in narrow and depending on how play develops force play out wide away from central areas . ensure full back is supporting. force play wide by shutting of central passing lanes to opposition 6 -8 -10
player 10: supports the press . depending on where the ball goes . we press high and quick and do not allow player to turn and play . once play is forced back immediately look to shut off central passing lanes. keep opposition play going sideways and backwards

red arrows indicate defensive pressing and cover and shutting of passing lanes and ensure we have numerical advantage in key areas out of possesion
black arrows (important ) represents movement when playing out from the back. it is a 6 -8 -10 rotation with the emphasis of our number 6 dropping into the box to recieve play from the goalkeeper. high risk but works well on a high opposition press.
depending on how we are pressed the 6 can look to play forward to our 10 or 8 and in some cases our number 4 or 5 who drives out with the ball and eats up space in front of himself quickly.
some key points : can we move at pace - can we target commit certain players . can we use fast give and go passes whilst moving forward , so excellent angles at movement of the ball required.
the number 6 has got to be brave coming deep into the box and accessing how he is pressed

Coaching Points:
starting formation is 1-4-2-3-1
defensive shape is 1-4-5-1 . we lose possesion then we transition 2 defence immediately . ie players get back behind the ball
offensive shape in oppossition half is 1-4-2-4 . players 7 & 11 support player 9 and player 10 supports slightly deeper giving a offensive 4.
its vital that player 10 screens the central area. players 6 & 8 are defensive c.mids and screen and block passing lanes into the feet of opposition forwards
players 2 & 3 are to press high depending where the ball is. if its on the opposite side then we slide across with the backline
players 4 & 5 keep the backline narrow ie no passing lanes between each other . we keep a tight narrow unit when out of possesion.
goalkeeper must be vocal and constantly communicating with his defensive unit and use his box and sweep up when needed.
