Exercise 1: Comp 5v5+5 (20 mins)

Time: 20 Minutes

Set Up:

-30x20 grid split in half.

-Players split into 3 teams of 5.

-2 teams set up inside with the other outside the grid but with one inside.

-Yellow are the common players.

-Initial set up has 3v2 on each side of the grid.

Exercise:

-Y1 serves ball to red.

-Red then aim to get the ball down to Y2.

-They can do this using all yellow players.

-Team in possession can transition grids.

-Yellow players are allowed to play in Y2.

-If red are succesful then Y2 serves to blue to attempt attack.

-If any team wins possessiion then they counter attack and any players out of their zone must return to theirs without challenging unless they can win the ball back within 5 seconds.

-Play 5 minute spells and switch teams around.

Key Points:

-Fast passing

-All players making good angles off the ball.

-making incisive passes to score

Set Up:

-As previous but add additional ends with goals.

Exercise:

-Same exercise as previous but this time Y2 gets on the ball and attempts to score 1v1 versus GK.

Key Points:

-As previous but link in clinical finishing by Y2 and Y1.

Time: 20-30 minutes

set up:

--30x20 if available.

Exercise:

-Play 5v5 inside small pitch.

-All players initally start in their own grid and opposition can press on first touch.

-Swap with players on 9v9 when required.

Key Points:

-Ensure tempo is high.

-Good transitions between defensive and attacking zones.

Set up:

-Half pitch across 3G

-Teams of 9v9.

Exercise:

-Play 9v9 games with normal 9v9 rules.

-Play 8-10 minute games and then rotate.
