Structured Build up Play - Playing out from the Back

Organisation:
- Set up as shown in the diagram, 3v3+1 rondo
- Yellows begin with the ball and look to combine in attacking zone
- Yellows score in single mini goal
- Blues remain in their defensive zone and are not allowed to engage Yellows until they cross the dotted line
- Blues are then free to win the ball back in their defensive zone and attack the two mini goals to score
Coaching Points:
- Yellows look to exploit overloads in attacking areas
- Create angles of support in attacking areas
- Weight of pass to maintain possession
- Weight of touch to set up next pass
- Good body position to receive ball
- Look to improvise when opportunity is available
- Blues look to press as soon as ball enters their defensive half
- If Blues regain ball they look to attack two mini goals quickly to score
- Swap players as required.
Progressions:
- Blues begin in their box but are then allowed to press in Yellows defensive half to regain the ball

Organisation:
- Setup as shown in diagram, 9v6 arranged in 433 formation
- Ball always begins with Keeper
- Yellows look to score in three mini goals
- Yellows look to be patient in possession and exploit overloads
- Blues begin in the box and remain in a low block,shifting side to side not pressing until Yellows engage
If Blue regain possession they have 10 seconds to score in large goals
- Rotate players as required
Coaching Points:
- Yellows to remain patient in possession and not force play
- Yellows look to draw out opposition and exploit the overloads
- Yellows to maintain quick ball movement when passing the ball playing off one or two touch where possible to disrupt opposition defence
- Blues to remain disciplined with low block defensive line, moving side to side quickly to cover gaps
- If Blues regain possession they look to counter in the big goal quickly
Progression:
- Blues can press once ball is played from keeper to centre back
- Even up the number of Blues

Passing Practice (15 mins)
Organisation:
- Set up as shown in the diagram
- 1 passes to 2, 2 passes to 3, 3 passes to 4, 4 passes 5, 6 comes off marker to receive and bounce back to 5 then runs around pole to receive return pass from 5, 6 then dribbles back to the beginning 1, all players follow their pass
- Make sure both sides are going and players rotate at end of sequence
Coaching Points:
- Good weight on pass
- Correct body position to receive
- Good touch to set up next pass
- Come off cone to receive
- Good communication
Progressions:
- Centre back can choose to play full back or centre mid then rotate
- Add pressure with a number 9 to press centre back
- Add more pressure with number 10 to cut off passing lane to centre mid
