Teaching players to react quickly to defending crosses from the wide channels of the pitch.

SET UP: 40x60 pitch 6v6 (3v3 in each half) inc keepers + 4 neutral wide players in marked out channels.
PROCEDURE: teams play 3v3 in each half and try and play out from the back. When in possession they can use the 4 neutral players. Teams can only score from a cross from an outside player. Only one outside player can be in a channel half. For example if the full back over laps or drives forward, the wide midfielder must drop into the defensive half.
PROGRESSION: teams can play in both halfs (6v6).
COACHING POINTS: Stop the cross, pick up players, clear the line (away from danger), keeper intercepting (catch/punch the ball clear)

SET UP: 36x36 (2 penalty areas) 4 teams of 4 + 2 keepers. 4v4 inside the box with 4 additonal attacking players around the box and 4 target players outside at the top.
PROCEDURE: Attacking team can only score inside the box by a delivered cross from outside. Defenders try to intercept the ball and play out to a target player. Teams rotate when a goal is scored or when a target player receivess the ball. Drill is started off by the goalkeeper throwing the ball to an attacker outside the box.
PROGESSION: Outside attacters and defenders can come in and out of the box.
