Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): Task 6 - Adapted session for Goalkeeper Crosses

Attacking 3rd Man Runs + Goalkeeper collecting crosses (15 mins)

Organisation

• 5-6 Players + 1GK
• Area Size: Variable. - Half a pitch or smaller.
• Time: 15 minutes (5 minutes per variant).
  

If the quality of passing is accurate, all passes should be first touch. Players should be dropping off their cones before receiving the ball.

Coach to work specifically on the wide players run (timing and mouvement).

Wide player looks to finish against the goalkeeper.

Optional: One of the build up players can make a run into the box to create a 2v1 against the goalkeeper.

Variant 1:

The final ball is played over the 3 mannequins. - Control + finish.

Variant 2:

The wide player stays wide. The ball is played wide and the winger drives in with the ball creating a 1v1 with the left back mannequin. - Dribble past mannequin + finish.

Variant 3:

The left back mannequin is moved further wide to replicate a defender pressing the wide player. The final ball is then played along the ground, between the left back mannequin and the left sided centre back mannequin. The wide player times his/her run off the shoulder of the mannequin.

Variant 4:  

The ball goes out further wide. the winger plays in a cross for the goalkeeper to come and collect. -> Goalkeeper work.
