4v4 Visual Awareness

Two teams playing 4v4 on tight pitch

When passing, player who receives ball has to shout to colour of the bib hanging on the corner pole

Both teams will be working to two diaganol poles each.

Red team play to 1 & 2. Blue team play to 3 & 4

Receiver has to call colour before they take first touch (1 Colour then progress to 2)

Key Points

Open body shape to receive pass/Check shoulder to scan/First touch away from opposition(In to space)

Challenge the better players to play off of one touch when possible

Unopposed Technique Passing/Receiving and Dribbling

4 players in middle of square with a ball each and 4 players on the outside on the square (1 player on each side with 1 ball)

Blue team have to try and pass the ball to team mates and maintain possession without the Red team touching the ball.

Red team must dribble their ball whilst trying to cut of angle to pass for Blues

1 point for a pass from adjacent sides and 2 points if pass is made to opposite side

Each pass must disect a section of the square

Play for 60 seconds then swap teams around

Key Points

Support movements of outside players (sideways movement/dropping off to increase angle)/Are players able to constantly scan for gaps in between Red players to pass through/Passing quality (When to punch passes in/When to play slower pass to drag in Defenders then play quickly to switch)

Finishing - Midfielder and Forward Combination

Attacking combination play between Midfield player and Forward player

Midfielder plays pass in to forward, who sets in to curved run path of midfielder. Forward player then spins around outside on manequin (defender) to receive forward through pass from midfield player.

Alternate both sides to take it in turns to Attack goal

Ask players to think of other combinations to use towards goal

Key Points

Quality of passing(In to feet or In to space/Weight of pass)/Forward player curving and delaying spinning run to stay onside and arrive on to the pass/Curved support movement of Midfield player and quality of through ball

4 Goal Game

5v5 on pitch with 4 GK's in all 4 goals (Coaches will be goalie or in play to support)

Normal game rules except each team has 2 goals to attack and 2 goals to defend

Can players recognise when to combine and switch play quickly off few touches when play builds up on one side of the pitch
