Description

Final third (20 minutes)

Organisation and area size:

- Area width of the 18 yard box x 30 yards long.

- 1x full size goal.

- 2x mini goals.

- 10 players 3v3+GK and 3 netural players on the outside that are ready to rotate.

- Play 3v3 for two minutes then break and rotate.

Explanation

The ball starts with the yellow neutral (not in play) who plays the ball into the Reds to attack the full size goal. The defending team (Blues) must defend the goal, try and win the ball back and score in either mini goal. Reds can use the netural players on the outside to create overloads which lead to goalscoring opportunities.

Challenges:

- Neutral players cannot enter the 18 yards area.

- Attackers to make three passses before an attempt on goal.

-Neutral Players can't score.

- Can defender play direct into small goals.

- Attacking team to use netural players to create overloads.

Key Coaching Points to use:

Defending (Out of possession)

- Protect the middle.

-Force the play away from goal.

- Defend the cross.

Put your body on the line.

Attacking (In possession)

- Quality of the final pass.

- Be creative.

- Play with width and depth.

- Repition of the finish.

- Move the ball quickly.

Interventions:

- Concurrent.

- Terminal.

- Walk through.

- Coaching Process.

Progressions:

- Neutral player that starts with the ball can join in and create an overload.

-Players on the outside reduce their touches.

- Once attacking team have made 3 passes the ball can go wide and player can drive inside.

- First to 2 goals stays on.

Regression:

- If the defenders are getting to much success and attackers aren't scoring enough keep defenders outside the penalty box.

Yellow team can help create the overload but defenders can't drop into the box once attacker breaks into the box.

Maximum of two touch finish for the striker.
