Play - Practice - Play Methodology
Practice Phase
Organization:
1. 20 x 15 yard grid for each exercise
2. Separate players into groups of 3 or 4
3. 4 red cones for gates and 4 yellow cones where players start (as shown).
4.2 Mini Goals
Field A
Instructions:
1. Players will start beside the gate with a soccer ball.
2. They will then pass to a teammate on the opposite side of the grid.
3. Once that player receives the ball they will then turn to dribble through the gate with speed.
4. At the turn, the player will preform a skilled turn (pull and push, inside the foot drag, roll over).
5. Players will follow there pass.
6. Play for (x) amount of time then switch with other grid.
Field B
1.Players will start at the yellow cone with a ball and pass to the player on the opposite side of the grid.
2. After the pass the player will run forward and receive the pass back for the player on the opposite side (give n go)
3. Player on the opposite side will play a 1 or 2 touch pass back to the player running forward.
4. Once receiving the back from the give n go you will then finish on the mini goal (take 2 touches, 1 - to control the ball and 2- to finish).
5. Play for (X) amount of time then switch grids with the other players.
Coaching Points:
1. Control touch on the ball.
2. Body Shape ( Are you facing the correct direction when you receive the ball)
3. Head up to look to see where you are dribbling to or passing to.
4. Focus on the exercise.
Progression:
1.The players that passes the ball is now the defender (create that urgency)
2. Limit touches on the ball.

Play Phase
Organization:
1. 25 x 35 yard grid
2. Separate players in to 2 teams.
3. Have extra balls by the goals.
Instructions:
1. Players will play 4v4 or 5v5 with a keeper to simulate the game.
2. Remind players to stay in diamond shape for positioning.
3. Purple players-(1) forward, (2) midfielders Left and Right, (1) Defender
4. Stoppages and through in's, players will try to stay in the diamond shape to create space for teammates.
(If an attacker is running to the goal to score try to remind them to angel their runs to meet them in front of the goal).
Coaching Points:
1. Do not cross the orange cones.
2. Stay in diamond shape to help spacing.
3. Dribble with head up to find teammates.
4. Weight of the pass to a teammate.
5. Finish at the goal.

3. Purple players-(1) forward, (2) midfielders Left and Right, (1) Defender
4. Orange cones are used to keep players into positions.
5. Players can not cross the orange cones in their area.
6. Once they move behind or in front of the orange cones they can move to the center or defend the goal.
7. Even with through in players will try to stay in the diamond shape to create space for teammates.
(If an attacker is running to the goal to score try to remind them to angel their runs to meet them in front of the goal).
