Attacking Shape
Each team has a 10, 7, and 11 with the intention to combine with a target number 9 through any of the three passing lanes in behind the opposing team. The team in possession may play a pass back to the other number 9 using them as their own 6 to keep possession of the ball if needed.
Coaching Points:
-Attack as a unit
-Remind the number 9s to be active not stagnant.
-Encourage the attacking 3 to be creative going forward
-Remind them to use their 6 to recycle the attack
-Remind the attacking 3 not just to play a pass to the 9 but to COMBINE with them.

Defensive Shape
The Defending team has a goal keeper, a back line and a number 6. They play against 4 attackers that can either score on goal for 3 points or dribble throught the gates out wide for 1 point. The idea here is to show the attackers away from goal. When the defending team wins the ball back they may score 3 points by connecting with the target player in the shaded area.
Coaching Points:
-Remind them of Pressure, Cover, Balance.
-Play your role, dont wander
-Communicate
-Be patient/force mistakes before you win the ball back

-Know/play your role
-Defensive Shape/Attacking shape
-Communicate
-Dont wander out of position/dont be stagnant

Warm Up (10 mins)
Prior to this warm up gather the team around and give them a detailed discription of both team shape and positions/roles.
Lay out cones in a 4-2-3-1 formations or a 3-4-1 formation for 9v9 teams. Have the players in an area away from the formation doing technical work (dribbling with different parts of the foot, Passing/recieving, etc.) the coach gives the players numbers as they dribble, then when the coach says go the players race to the cone corresponding with their number. Last player to their cone has to do a technical punishment. Repeat the drill giving the players new numbers each time.
Coaching Points:
-Get in shape quickly
-Know your role
-Know the roles around you
