Understand when and how to minimise space, deal with crosses / shots & protect space centrally in the defensive third

Red team 2-4-1-2

Blue team 4-3-1

Two 5 minute blocks with intervals

Explanation:

-Small sided game, red team aim to build play up and play into strikers whilst blue team look to defend the final third through aspects coached in specific drill 

-1 block red team free passes after the black line

-2 block blue team start in medium block 

Conditions, Challenges and Targets

- Can blue to keep correct distances between units? 

- Blue team to make correct recovery runs if necessary 

- Is defensive line high enough to ensure realism 

- Can you force away from goal with pressure as individual and team?

What if considered and needed to be coached during small sided game 

- Blue goalkeeper out of position to help the back 4

- position of the players away from the ball

- The back four start in medium block, I want my goalkeeper to step up and help the defenders.

- Narrow a compact we allow the red to play in wide area
