What: 4 Goal Game. Attack two goals and defend two.
In any game with multiple goals the small goals should be wide enough to prevent the defenders from standing in the goals to defend. The idea is to incentivize the defenders to step to the ball.
This is a Stage 2 activity.
Why: this activity can address both passing and changing the point of attack. The team in possession has two extra targets and should be able to possess the find the extra targets.
Where: the middle third of the field.
Who: in possession, the #s 6, 8, and 10 using the 7, 11, and 9 to address changing the point of attack. If played 4v4, then the #s 10, 7,11,and 9.
When: attacking and transition phase.
Periodization:
Players - Work Interval - Recovery - Reps
2 to 4 --- 1 to 2.5 min ---1 to 2 min --3 to 8
5 to 7 --- 3 to 6 min ---- 2 to 3 min --1 to 6
The general "rule of thumb" is that when the speed of play in an activity drops, it is time for recovery.
The fewest number of players deteremines the duraton of an activity.
Touch restrictions typically will result in a higher speed of play.
Space will influence player actions, which will affect speed of play.
