Knowing when to control the ball when it is on the air by applying the right technique and translating this to a game scenario.

Aerial control and passing:
Organization:
Set up an area approx. 40x30, split into three sections.
Have three teams of 3 or 4 players, one team starts in each area.
Instructions:
The team in the central area is the defending team and looks to block the long pass from teams either side.
The team in possession of the ball makes three consecutive passes before playing the ball over the middle zone to the other team.
A player from the receiving team must control the ball in the air and repeat the sequence.
Continue for a set time period then rotate teams.
Coaching points:
Creating space.
Good first touch.
Quality pass.
Decision making.
Get in line with the ball.
Select controlling surface.
Progression:
Allowing a memeber in the defending to come towards the opponents area where they having posession of the ball.

Conditioned Game (25 mins)
Organization:
5v5/6v6 in two 25x30 yard areas
Two target players at each end
Instructions:
Teams compete for possession of the ball.
Players must attempt to play the ball to the target player and transition into the other half of the field.
Players may pass to the target player in the half that they are currently playing in - this creates a 6v5 situation in favor of the team in possession.
The pass to the target player must be one-touch. Target players are encouraged to move anywhere along the end-line.
Both teams must quickly transition to continue the possession game in the other half.
The target players must pass to the team that passed to them.
Points are awarded for successful passes to the target players in the opposite half.
Coaching Points:
Speed of transition - travel quickly as the ball is traveling!
Vision of field - location and movement of targets.
Quick decision making.
Diagonal passes to targets
Progressions:
Target to two players
The target player must lay the ball back to a supporting player and this player must attempt to find the other target player with one-touch
Add Goalkeepers to the game
Finish playing game in full half field Defence v Attack, who play to goal, Defenders play to target on halfway line

Warm up (20 mins)
Organization: Layout a Circle, approx. 30 yards radius. Split players into two equal teams, if possible - Servers & Attackers; Servers have ball each, (Also have spares available).
Instructions:
Players without the ball start inside the circle. They check to the server who throws the ball to them.
They must control the ball and play back to the server, ideally with their second touch.
They then find another perimeter player.
In air – use feet and return - one touch
Use thigh and return
Use chest and return
Head ball back to server.
Players work for 60 seconds and then rotate.
