For assignment 6 of my UEFA B License i was asked to do a match analysis on my oppossition and design 2 session that would help my team prepare for playing them next time around. this session is focused on trying to exploit our opposition's weaknesses which is being caught on the counter attack.
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Organisation
Working with 16 players - 14 outfield plus 2 GK's.
Only working in half a park.
2 large 11 a side goals plus 2 small fun 4 goals.
Activity
After performing a match analysis on our opposition that we shall be playing next i then designed a session of an area of the opposition that i seen was a weakness at that was catching them on quick counter attacks in an overload situation such as 6v4 and 6v5. This session will hopefully help us prepare and improve on developing our counter attacks and hold up play.
Here in component 1 it will start off as 6 v 4.
The GK will pass the ball out to either the right or the left back.
From there they will drive forward and play a successful pass into the small sided goal.
As soon as the ball hits the back of the net the play will start from the same side where there is space to drive into and attack.
This changes the point of attack and then makes the player think more about the decisions they make as the picture is different.
Here the defenders will shuffle across to defend against the 6 attackers.
The other defender will try to get back in and recover to re-create a back 4.
The attackers are to shoot into the large 11 a side goal and if the defenders win the ball the can shoot into the small sided goals.
Coaching Points
Attack with speed
Use the width of the pitch
Movement up top from the strikers
Good support and depth from the central players
Attack the space

Option 3 will now be 6v5 with a central midfielder added in.
The opposition plays with a holding midfielder who protects the back 4.
The GK will pass the ball out to either the right or the left back.

As soon as the ball hits the back of the net the play will start from the opposite side.
Here the defenders will shuffle across to defend against the 6 attackers.

The attackers try to use the overload they have and attack the goal and exploit the space before the opposition can get back into shape.

Working in a area size of half a pitch.
Activity
Now going into the phases of play part of the session.
Teams will be set up in same formation as component 2.
Only working into 1 goal and having lots of phases of attacks.
Wanting to see the attacking team show what they have learned in component's 1 and 2.
The attacking team will shoot into the goal and will have a feeder which will start play.
If the defending team win the ball they look to play into the feeder.
Each time the ball goes out the play will start from the feeder.
The defending team will be allowed to reset before the next wave of attack.
Coaching points
Same coaching points as component 1 and 2.
