4 v 2 Rondo

Must receive/control with the sole of the foot

If they don't that player and the the player to the right go in the middle

Angles of support for players not on the ball

Can they split the defenders with a through pass?

Defending Rondo (10 mins)

8 minutes


Rondo 2 (Defending)


Player 1 starts in the middle.

Player 2 (with ball) passes to Player 3.


Player 1 starts to close on Player 3 as primary defender

Player 2 who passed the ball in then becomes the secondary defender


Player 3 plays his pass to Player 6

Player 1 then takes Player 3's place. Player 2 becomes the primary defender and then Player 3 becomes the secondary defender.

Possession Game (10 mins)

4 v 4 + 4 outside Jokers


Red v Purples inside zone. Can use the outside players but can only play with up to 4 touches

Swap teams around every 3 minutes.


Everytime a pass goes to the outside and is received successfully back that is a goal


Progression

If they bounce the pass back to another player from their side then it counts as 2 goals.

Defending Principles


Half Court Diamond

*Team to set up in a diamond in own half

*Half way line is furthest team will be.

*Team are compact and set up in 4 lines of defence which includes GK

*Formation is 1-2-1

*Wide defenders stay narrow and do not get dragged out to sidelines when the ball is in the middle of the court.


Positions

Fix=Back Defender

Wing= Wide player

Pivot=Front player/Striker

Positions When Ball Switched

Ball is switched to the right.


Players move to their new areas retaiing the diamond shape not allowing the ball to be played through or diagonally.


Yellow arrows show each red defending players responsibility.


AIM: To be patient. Wait for a bad pass or touch and counter-attack the space behind the last blue player.
