Fraserburgh
Our first Saturday morning session in Fraserburgh.
We are going to try and progress the GK's awareness when moving around the goal area to include speed of movement from side to side and getting up from the ground.
We want them to develop confidence when he has to use his feet and making passes to team mates and getting in front of the ball to increase his shot stopping ability.
Equipment:
Balls
Cones
Markers
Ladders

Ladder work
Working to get the cardio working for the GK's together with them using their feet and hands
Instructions:
The GK works his way along the ladder, trying to keep watching the ball and
1. passing the ball back to the coach using
2-touch
1-touch
2. dives at each side
mid
ground
(3 per side)
Coaching points:
GK is trying to watch the ball while moving
GK is using short, sharp steps to move
Power & control is more important than speed

Watch & move
We have to work the GK's in order that they get used to being in front of the ball and central to the goal. We will start with them having a pre-mmovement and then getting into position for the shot.
Instructions:
The GK starts by facing inwards to the goal, on command, he will step inwards & step forward to set, the coach will serve the ball to the mid or side in order to encourage lateral movement to gather the ball
Progression
1.Movement is then to be moved to the sides of the goal. The GK will again start in the middle of his goal, on command, move and touch the post and then in front of the ball
2. Combining the movements we will have the shot to the central area and then the GK working around the cone to set in front of the ball for the angled shot
- both sides to be worked
Coaching points:
* The GK is moving relative to the ball & trying to get his body behind the ball
* GK is watching the ball into his hands
* Short, sharp steps - no skipping

Upwards movement
We want the GK's to start to think about how they are moving and what is the best way for them to get off the ground.
Instructions:
Each GK to have a ball & lots of space, the ball is rolled a short distance. The GK then lye's on the ground, face down. On command, he gets up as quickly as possible and dives on his ball.
* Lying on back
* Lying on each side
* Getting up without using hands (core muscles)
Progression
The GK's now pair up, 1 rolls the balls away which the other has to dive on and return the ball from the ground, he then rolls the ball in another direction and the GK has to get to the ball and dive on asap (4 dives in total)
Coaching points:
How is the GK getting off the ground?
* Push
* Momentum
* Leg momentum
* Squat then up
* Roll over knee
* Sit up / face down???
* How is the speed generated?
We want the GK's to learn what works and when!! - not everyone will be the same as they will all be at different stages of development

Follow the ball
We want the GK to be making effective movements around the goakmouth in order to always be central to the ball
Instructions:
The GK moves & touches the ball & then moves in front of the ball, C1 can then either shoot or pass to c2 or c3.
If the pass is made the GK is move across the goal in order to stay central to the ball
Progression:
How is the GK moving around the goal - semi circle? - inwards or outwards??
The effective movement always has to be the outward semi circle, always have to be aware of their position around the goal
Coaching points:
* Is the GK aware of his position?, is he having a quick glace to reconfirm, are there any markers he can use as a reference?
* Effective movements? sprint / short sharp steps

Movements
Lets now get everyone thinking when they are tired!!!
Instructions:
The GK is to start in the centre of the square and on command he will move forward to receive a shot from c1 which can be any-type to anywhere, the GK will rise from this andmove to be in front of c2 who he will do a pass-back with (2 touch and then 1 touch), the GK will then move around to goal 3 for another shot to any where
(try and have both shots being different and always giving the GK time to set)

Instructions:
In a grid 10 x 10, 2 teams will try and get 10 passes together
* ball at feet
* ball in hands
Progression:
The coaches who can move laterally can be used to assist the passing
Coaching points:
* We are trying to get the GK's to look at the space they have and how movement will help their team out to win and keep the ball
* Movement, how does this help?
