One of the important aspects of implementing Rondos within our training regiment is to ensure it is done with our playing style and tactical plans in mind within a limited amount of space to recognize where the space is to attack. Two equal teams compete to maintain possession. Plenty of balls should be available to be passed in by the coach carefully to maintain possession and ensure continuous play with intensity. If the defending team (Blue) wins/intercepts the ball, they transition going from their compact defending shape to an expansive attacking shape (Dispersal; Length/Width). The objective is to create overloads of 3vs1 or 4vs2 in order to switch the play recognizing the space available to attack.

Rondo 2vs2+4N Overloads
An area of 15x15 yds. Two equal number of players. Here there are 8 players of which 4 represent the back 4 and two as HMDF players. If there is an odd number use a neutral player in the middle to create an overload for team in possession.A goal is scored every 6 passes or if a pass splits the two opponents playing in the middle and is controlled by a teammate.
Coaching Points:
Angle of Support - move into a position where you can receive the ball at your feet without it being intercepted - open body to receive the ball safe side - receive the ball on the front foot
Quick Passing - Know when to play 1 touch or 2 touch and make the ball travel quickly
Disguise - look one way and pass the opposite way; disguise the turns
Movement - create length and width playing off the shoulders of the opponents
Rotation - show for the ball when your teammate has their head up or taken their first touch, if you do not receive the ball create space behind the opponent away from your teammate who can show for the ball.
Pressing - work as a unit to pressure and support one another into an area where you can win the ball back
Switches of play to relieve pressure - recognize where he space is to attack and switch the play quickly making safe side passes.
