Controlled Possession in the Middle third - Midfield Rotations

Organisation:
- Set up as shown in the diagram
- 6v6 with 6 resting, 2 minute games
- Yellows transfer ball top to bottom and if successful receive 1pt
- Blues transfer ball side to side and is successful receive 1pt
- Winner stays on
- Players on inside(midfield) rotate
Coaching Points:
- Create angles of support
- Weight of touch and pass
- Good body position to receive ball
- Good communication
Progression:
- Add two goals at end of shaded area to finish off bounce pass. This will allow an extra attacker and one defender in shaded area to assist

Organisation:

- 7v7 with keepers
- Teams to remain in their allocated zones
- Can teams combine through the thirds to create goal scoring opportunities
- Ball goes out restart is with opposite goal keeper
- Defenders or midfielders are not allowed to dribble ball into the next third
Coaching Points:
- Good angles of support to progress play
- Can midfielders rotate effectively and combine to progress the ball forward
- Good communication between midfielders to rotate and confuse opposition
Progressions:
- Allow midfielder in attacking third to support the attack
- Allow attacker into midfield third to create overload to progress the ball if struggling

Organisation:

- 1 passes to 2, 2 bounces back to 1, 1 then plays to 5, 5 receives and then dribbles to where 1 began and 1 moves to end of the queue where 5 was
- 2,3 and 4 rotate after each pass
- Alternate both sides
Coaching Points:
- Weight of pass
- Weight of touch to set up next pass
- Body position to receive ball
- Good communication
Progression:
- 2,3 and 4 can rotate as they want
- 1 can play into 3, 3 then bounces to 2 and 3 plays to 1 as they run past and then sequence continues
