TECHNIQUE AND TOUCH

TECHNIQUE AND TOUCH: SQUARE

 

8x8 square. To score, dribble thru the goal

 

Progression:

  • Player #1 plays across to Player #2. Player #2 takes a touch and dribbles (explodes) thru the cones on the right (inside of the right foot) or the cones on the left (inside of the left foot). Player #1 rotates to the back of Line #2. Player #2 rotates to the back of line #2. Progress by adding shadow pressure on Player #2 after the pass
  • Player #1 plays across to Player #2. Player #2 takes a touch and dribbles (explodes)thru the cones on the right (outside of the right foot) or the cones on the left (outside of the left foot). Player #1 rotates to the back of Line #2. Player #2 rotates to the back of line #2. Progress by adding shadow pressure on Player #2 after the pass

  • Player #1 plays across to Player #2. Player #2 takes a touch across their body with the inside of their foot and dribbles (explodes)thru the cones on the right (inside of the left foot) or the cones on the left (inside of the right foot). Player #1 rotates to the back of Line #2. Player #2 rotates to the back of line #2. Progress by adding shadow pressure on Player #2 after the pass
  • 1v1: Score on lateral goals only. Progress 1 point for a goal scored laterally, 3 points for a goal score vertically 
  • 2v2: 1 point for a goal scored on a lateral goal. 3 points for a goal score vertically

Passing Sequences

WARM UP: PASSING IN PAIRS

 

In pairs, one ball between. Passing and receiving

 

Progression:

  • Two touch back and forth
  • 1 touch back and forth
  • Receive with the inside of one foot, play back with the inside of the same
  • Receive with the inside of one foot, play back with the inside of the other
  • Receive with the inside of one foot, play back with the instep (laces) of the other

  • Receive with the outside of one foot, play back with the inside of the same

  • Receive across with the inside of one foot, play back with the outside of the same

  • Play a pass to teammate- backpeddle (after pass)- come forward and play (when teammate plays)
  • 1 touch competition (half the distance)
  • Increase distance: Play flighted then driven balls

Foundation

Dancing on top of ball (forward) two feet- touch the ball every step

Dancing on top of ball (forward) one foot hop on one foot get tired, switch feet- touch the ball every step

Facing sideways (Laterals) Roll-Stop-Roll

Face backwards: pull ball backwards two feet (touch ball every step)

Face backwards: pull ball backwards one foot (touch ball every step) . Get tired, switch foot

Dribble and apply various dribbling moves

Pass across with inside of the foot (Keep ball on ground)

Pass across with instep (laces) of the foot (Keep ball on ground)

Speed dribble race between all teams. Down and back three times

Everyone with a ball dribbling inside the area. Dribble at game speed

 

Progression:

  • Free Dribble
  • Dribble around a cone and back
  • Dribble around the farthest cone and back
  • Dribble with left foot only, right foot only
  • Dribble to opposite side of the gird you are facing and back in
  • Apply various dribbling moves
  • Turns: inside of foot turn, outside of foot turn, stepovers, pull back, pull and tuck moves
  • Feints : fake one way go dribble the other
  • On coaches command to "change" leave your ball and dribble any other ball as fast as possible
  • Dribble, stop ball with sole of foot (bottom of foot, start again
  • On coaches # called out, players have to dribble and organize themselves together in a group as fast as possible. (example four... players need to get in a group of four as fast as possible
  • How many splits of players can you do in 30 seconds. Keep count
  • Freeway speed (dribble fast), school zone (dribble slow), red light (stop ball with foot), U-turn (turn and go a different direction, crash (fall down get up an dribble)
  • Dribble at another player
