Small sided game: Attacking the final third (10 mins)
Primary Focus: Small Sided Game focusing on attacking the final third, concentrating on the individual +1
Organisation: The area size is 30x20 with a half way line and cones marking out the final third in each half
Player no's: Player numbers will be 3 teams of 4 (reds, blues and yellows) inc GK's, with all players positioned within the field, the 3rd team which will be rotated through the blocks plays for team in possession
Timings: 10 minutes split into 2 blocks of 4 minutes with 1 minute recovery between the blocks, rotation of the 3 teams will happen through the blocks, so all teams become the third team
Explanation: Game starts 4v4+2 with a GK.
Players are all positioned in field with 2 players from team 1(red) and 2(blue) in each half and from team 3(yellow) in each half plus GK either side.
Team 3 plays for whichever team is in possession.
The practice starts with a GK each time.
If a team scores, they can keep possession of the ball.
There is free play to start so the coach can observe what they need to support the players with.
In the second block of time, all conditions and progressions are taken off the practice, and free play is allowed to finish off the practice and allow the coach to observe if the players have taken on board what you have coached them on
Adaptations (Progressions & Regressions):Progressions, the 2 players in the 3rd team go into the channels unopposed to encourage dribbling into final third and creating 4v2 in each half.
A defender can dribble the ball to join the attacking half to make 3v2's or 5v2's plus goalkeeper in possession.
Regressions, ball has to be passed into the attacking half instead of dribbling, 2 players in the 3rd team can go in any half constantly creating 4v2's all over the pitch
Challenges, Conditions or Targets:Any goals scored beyond the red cones scores an extra point, encouraging teams to attack the final third
