Conditioned Game (20 mins)
Learning outcomes:
1. Players develop awareness of situations where they are dribbling into trouble.
2. Learning to communicate to teammates "man on" to help them recognize when they are under pressure.
Organization:
1. Setup 20 x 20 yard area set up as shown
2. Even teams set up as shown. If odd number use neutral player. If really hot day make it 3 teams with even team rotation.
3. Game is played with 1 ball (Additional placed at goals on the outside)
Instructions:
1. Teams attempt to score in one of their two designated goals
2. One team attempts to score in goals labeled (A) and the other in the goals labeled (B)
3. If the ball leaves the area the game is restarted with a kick-in
4. Play for a set time period
Coaching Points:
1. Recognize defenders blocking off the goal you want to go to.
2. If we can't go through them, let's try to go the other way.
3. Communicate to my teammate "MAN ON!" to let them know they are under pressure.
4. After turn- quickly identify next action.
5. Protect ball if closed down again. Nothing wrong with playing a pass into space or dribbling into space.
Progressions:
P – Decrease field space.
R – Add neutral.
