Pick a corner (15 mins)

Organization:

- Mini goals or cones set up in the corner of the big goal

- 2 cones outside the box seperated by 5-8 feet.

- Every player with a ball from behind the first cone

Instructions:

- Every player will run with a ball from a certain point up until the first cone.

- After they reach they first cone they must go either left or right with a dribble move (cone acting as the defender).

- Before they reach the second cone, they must shoot.

- The goal only counts if it goes between the cones or inside the mini goals.

Coaching Points/Questions:

- Quick thinking

- Strengthens shot on both legs.

Regressions/Progressions:

R:

- Make the shot closer

P:

- Move the cones further back for a longer shot.

3 Stages of Finishing (35 mins)

Organization:

- One goalie

- 3 stations, 3-4 players per station.

Instructions:

- At the first station, player 1 will dribble towards the cone, cut in to the right and take a shot at goal.

- As soon as player 1 shoots, player 2, in station 2 dribbles towards the ball and passes the ball to player 1 beofre reaching the cone.

- Player 1 immediately gives a through ball pass for player 2 to finish first time.

- As soon as player 1 makes the pass, player 1 runs to station 3 where player 3 will also pass the ball.

- Player 1 gives a deep through ball to player 3.

- Player 2 runs to the front post and player 1 runs to second post.

- Player 3 crosses the ball and either of the players in the box finishes first time.

Coaching Points/Questions:

- Collective build up play.

- First time finish

- Constant movement and following the play.

Regressions/Progressions:

R:

- Give players 2 touches

- Move the cones closer to goal

P:

- Move cones further away from goal.

- Switch station order so that players shoot and pass with their left

Scrimmage (30 mins)

Organization:

- Small sided game

- 4 players and a goalie per team

Instructions:

- Free play with intense pressure

- Focus on ball control and quick decision making after receiving the ball.

- Do not be afraid to take shots!!!

Coaching Points/Questions:

- Incorporate ball control, decision making and finishing.

- Remove the fear of missing a shot and making sure every player takes shots.

Regressions/Progressions:

R:

- Remove a player per team

P:

- Limit players to 3 touches each

- Must complete 8 passes before scoring.
