Key Coaching Points
Dribbling and Running with the Ball
(1) Touch / guide the ball with laces when dribbling (natural running movement for foot).
(2) Look up while dribble to see space, defenders, teammates, and the goal.
(3) Use all parts of the foot to manipulate the ball. Inside (chop), outside (hook), and sole (pull-back) to change direction.
Closing Down
(1) Try to get an arms length away from the ball carrier.
(2) Spring to close down but break down (small short steps and ready to adjust) as you get closer to the ball carrier.
(3) When you are able step across the ball carrier to take possession or poke the ball away and try to recover possession.
Key Organization
(1) Coaches working in pairs, one coach set-up cones while the other coach leads the arrival activity and activation activity.
(2) Keep all the soccer balls with coaches. Have the players return the balls to a designated area.
(3) Only speak to the group when you have everyone attention. Do not let players not pay attention when coaches are speaking.

Organization: As players arrive they begin to play in games. If there is one play, that individual can play against a coach or their parent. As more players arrive add them to the game. If the game gets to big you can play another game in that field or a separate field.
Objective: Players to be engaged as soon as they arrive. Players to be given freedom to play how they want.
Competition: Players can play against their peers or against a parent or coach. Games should not be bigger than 3V3.

Organization: Two taggers, everyone moves to avoid the taggers. If you are tagged you are frozen. Frozen players stand with their feet apart. Players become unfrozen when a teammate crawls through their legs.
Objective: Players to press opposition and prevent opposition from moving around / getting away.
Progression: Add a ball for players. Players become frozen if a tagger touches the ball with their foot. Frozen players stand with their feet apart and ball in their hands. Players become unfrozen when a teammate passes a ball through their feet.

Organization: GK & 1V1. GK work with defender to move the ball past the opposition. Ball must be dribbled between the red cones. When the attackers win the ball they try to score on the goal.
Objective: Always be in a spot to stop the opposition from dribbling over the red line.
Competition: The attackers try to score in the goal. Defenders try to dribble past the red cones. Play for 8-minutes and see which team has the most points then switch sides.
