1v1 practice games are vital to any coach as this situation occurs naturally in any game. players must feel comfortable dealing with these situations and finding a solution whether they are in attack or defence. The practice activities in this session are designed to be unpredictable, forcing the players to make quick choices / decisions in order to come out on top.

Organization:
- Adapt the size of the area to the ability of the players
- 2 nets and two cones
Instructions:
Two teams
Each team take it in turn to attack and then defend in a 1v1 situation.
An example would be, yellow player attacks and then reacts to defend against the next red player. The game is played for a set time period or until a certain amount of goals are scored.
Coaching Points:
- Deception to beat defender (keep it simple)
- Awareness of space to attack
- Change of direction and speed
- Focus of your strength ( speed, tricks, strength)

Scrimmage
Set Up:
Play a game. Normal FIFA rules apply.
Finish off with a competitive scrimmage highlighting the coaching point from pervious exercise.

Shooting Circuit (15 mins)
Organization:
- Adapt the size of the area to the ability of the players
Instructions:
2 station finishing circuit
1 – the attacker has three touches to score in a 1v1 against the keeper
2 – the defender passes to the attacker who must dribble away from the defender and score in net ahead of them
After each turn, the players move onto the next station.
Progression:
The player on station 1 attacks in a 1v1 against the keeper and then becomes a defender against the two players on station 2. After the player with the ball passes it to their teammate, the passer performs an overlapping run to create a 2v1.

- Positive first touch
- Placement over power on shot
- Awareness of space to attack
- Change of direction and speed
